I don't eat animals,
and also I don't drink,
I don't do drugs.
I never liked meat.
I never like anything
from it, especially cow.
I don’t like
the smell of the milk.
I was never
interested in that.
I influence a lot of people,
sometimes
without saying anything.
Greetings tropical
sun-lovers, welcome to
another exciting edition
of Vegetarian Elite.
Today, we feature
one of the Caribbean’s
musical stars,
Haiti’s own King Wawa.
A versatile artist,
King Wawa is
an accomplished singer,
percussionist, guitarist,
songwriter, and painter.
His mission is
to inspire, uplift,
and bring joy to people.
His given name “Wawa”
means king of kings and
reflects his noble nature.
The essence
of his music stems
from African traditions;
however, King Wawa
truly draws inspiration
from the cosmos itself.
Recently,
Supreme Master Television
had the honor of speaking
with King Wawa
in California, USA.
During the interview,
he spontaneously sang
a powerful song about
love and respect for all life,
reminding us all of
the importance of living
as a true human being.
We’ve got to
save the animals now
We’ve got to
save the land now
We’ve got to go vegan oh
to save the land
We’ve got to go vegan
now if you’re a true human
Oh, we’ve got to
go vegan now,
to save the land
We’ve got to
be true human now
To save the animals.
King Wawa’s
passionate roots
of veganism and painting
came through a very
intense experience when
he was just a small child.
I love nature.
I like to paint nature.
I like to
paint the landscape.
I like to paint animals,
water, and pathways.
I always think
we all got pathways
to go through life,
and we don’t even know
where it’s going to take us.

One of the things
that inspired me painting
when I was young
and I went to vacation
in the country of Haiti,
I saw somebody
kill a goat in front of me.
And when that happened,
I was really small,
that kind of messed me up,
the way they did that.
And then in my painting,
I’m thinking if
I’m painting this animal,
I can bring that animal
back to life. You know?
So now
if anything happened
that was negative,
I think if I paint it,
I can bring back alive
to people, and
I start inspiring like that.
So much confinement
Cows are in the cage
Can’t you see
what they’ve done to
Millions of animals now?
Oh can’t see you
what you’re eating?
Oh flesh and blood!
We’ve got to go vegan!
Oh to save the land,
Be a true human now.
To save the land
If you want to be healthy
You have to go vegan.
As an artist and musician
growing up in Haiti,
King Wawa was blessed
with the immense support
and encouragement
of his family
who saw to it that he
followed his chosen path.
We asked him where
his musical inspirations
originated from.
That’s a good question.
First of all, my inspiration
came from my country,
from Africa, the
traditional Haitian music
the Africans
brought to their land.
So this is where
I was listening a lot.
Also they got
some French influence,
some French songs.
The fact is
I play percussions, so
when you play percussion
you put
a lot of different rhythms
from different places
around the world.
So that’s helped me create
a unique style of mine.
So when
I’m playing guitar, when
I’m playing percussion,
it goes straight to
the island in Africa, that’s
where it always goes.
So no matter
how I play this morning,
it’s going there.
It’s the root, you know?
King Wawa’s music
is self-described as
Afro-pop – world music
of Haitian-African roots.
A song which beautifully
displays this lively but
soothing tropical sound
is “All I Ever Dreamed,”
written by
King Wawa himself.
King Wawa speaks about
two main styles of music
in Haiti.
The first is Haitian
traditional pop music
called “kompa,” consisting
of keyboard, accordion,
and a drum base.
This music
originates from legendary
Haitian musician
Nemours Jean-Baptiste
and his partner
Webert Sicot, who
was considered one of
the greatest saxophonists
in the world.
They combined Latin,
Haitian urban
and rural music, and
some African music, and
called it “kompa direk.”
It is now called “kompa”
for short.
The second style
of Haitian music
is more African-based
and is called “rasin.”
We’ll be back
in just a moment
to hear King Wawa
explain the meaning
of his band name
“Oneness Kingdom,”
which is also hopeful
vision for the world.
Welcome back to
Vegetarian Elite
on Supreme Master
Television
and our 2-part feature on
King Wawa, Haiti-born
vegan musician and artist.
King Wawa deeply
respects and acknowledges
his Haitian heritage.
Moreover, he believes
in universal oneness.
His website displays
the French phrase:
“L’Union fait la force”
meaning
“Strength in unity.”
King Wawa discusses
his feelings of world unity
and how his band
got the name
“Oneness Kingdom.”
The world
needs to be united.
People have
different backgrounds,
different traditions.
No matter how we think,
there is one thing
we have in common.
We need to
love one another,
And I’m saying
if all of us come to,
as oneness in one place,
we call, it will take
one day to unite, just like
forget our differences,
forget our anything,
and to be our self,
to be human. You know?
And then I said that
to my friend, “You know,
what's a good name
And there was a singer
in the band who said
“You know what, what
about Oneness Kingdom?”
After the Haiti earthquake
in early 2010,
King Wawa selflessly
offered all his time
and energy to his
home country of Haiti.
He took a training course
from The California
Institute of Earth Art
and Architecture on how
to build emergency green
eco-dome communities
for his
Haitian brethren in need.
And I get involved
in a lot of projects, a lot
of nonprofit organizations
to help the world,
children, Haiti, Katrina.
All kinds of, all
the needs for the world.
And I always get a call,
and then I realize that
my career turned into
to serve humanity.
So this is where my career
is basically shifting now.
So it’s going to be all right
in that direction because
I think it’s a good thing
to help you know,
to help humanity,
because I think
humanity needs help.
They need us, whoever
can help them, so I think
these are good things.
He subsequently
established the King Wawa
Haiti Relief Project.
He also created
an inspiring song and video
while he was helping
in Haiti, titled
“Haiti Will Rise Again.”
Place the vision
in my heart
deep in my soul,
it’s still alive
I can only breathe to say
Haiti will rise again
Haiti will rise again
Haiti will rise again
Like she did in 1804
Haiti will rise again
(Haiti will rise again)
Haiti will rise again
(Haiti will rise again)
Haiti will rise again
(Haiti will rise again)
Like she did in 1804.
From helping
his co-citizens,
to sharing his insights
about a compassionate
vegan lifestyle,
to performing his music,
King Wawa
has been devotedly
fulfilling his role as
a caretaker of the Earth
and her inhabitants.
It is his belief that when
we respect ourselves
and respect others,
the world will become
a better place for
all humankind, building
peace and harmony for us
and all future generations
to come.
We’ve got to
save the animals now
We’ve got to
save the land now
We’ve got to go vegan oh
to save the land
We’ve got to go vegan
now if you’re a true human
Oh, we’ve got to
go vegan now,
to save the land
We’ve got to
be true human now
To save the animals.
