Halo, graceful viewers,
welcome to
the conclusion of
our 2-part program about
the National Troupe for
Folkloric Arts from Iraq.
This talented troupe,
founded in 1971,
is dedicated to preserving
the folk-dancing heritage
of Iraq.
They perform
the traditional dances
drawn from across
that country’s history,
geography, and diverse
cultural groups.
Thus, Iraq’s folkloric arts
have been shared with
the world through tours
in over 70 countries.
Mr. Fouad Thanoon,
who is the director
and lead choreographer
of the troupe,
has designed and directed
many folkloric dances
and national shows
inspired from Iraq’s,
and sometimes the Arab,
original heritage.
Today, we are happy
with this great audience,
that we can present
our folklore and heritage.
As you know,
Iraq's civilization
has lasted for 7,000 years.
We carry a message
from Iraq to the friendly
people and brothers
by introducing
the Iraqi heritage
and the history of Iraq,
so they will be acquainted
with our history
and heritage in Iraq.
And we are happy
with this meeting.
First, welcome,
Supreme Master TV
as well as the viewers of
this great channel,
which also works vigorously
to follow-up on
relevant global news,
whether in the field
of art or other fields.
But we are also lovers
and fans of it,
because it conveys
a good and sincere word
in order to develop
and expand people’s
perceptions and
let them be acquainted
with the origins of
the Arab and the whole
world’s civilizations
and cultures.
So, I welcome its viewers
and personnel.
We now invite you
to enjoy “Al-Khashaba,”
a music performance
mainly using percussions
found in the southern
region of Iraq.
Al-Khashaba
Turn away from those eyes
All people wish
for those eyes
Turn away from those eyes
All people wish
for those eyes
I'm grateful to Abu Nona
Abu Nona has
beautiful eyes
I'm grateful to Abu Nona
Abu Nona has black eyes
All people wish
for those eyes
The tall one, I have met
Turn away from those eyes
All people wish
for those eyes
I'm grateful to Abu Nona
Abu Nona has black eyes
All people wish
for those eyes
The next dance
is called “Baghda.”
This dance expresses
the deep and sincere love
for the homeland,
and is accompanied
by the song of
the famous Iraqi singer
Kathem Al Saher.
Baghda
There is much talk
about that I love
There is much talk
about whom I love
There is much talk
about that I love
There is much talk
about whom I love
Her age!
Her origin!
Her secret!
Her form!
White or brown!
Whether your eyes or hers
are more beautiful!
There is much talk
about that I love
There is much talk
about whom I love
Her age!
Her origin!
Her secret!
Her form!
White or brown!
Whether your eyes or
hers are more beautiful!
She is more beautiful
than anyone
more beautiful
than you and I
She is more elegant
than anyone
She is closer to my heart
than me
She is more beautiful
than anyone
more beautiful
than you and I
She is more elegant
than anyone
She is closer
to my heart than me
She is more eloquent
than Kareem's poetry
Or Kathem
in his finest melody
I would like just to say
that the Iraqi culture
is a very rich culture,
and the Iraqi culture is
one of the Arab cultures
that was really having
the Arab language
as one of the strong parts
in the Middle East,
that was preserving
the Arab language.
And they had a lot of
poets and they had a lot
of Arabic literature.
And at the same time
it does give
a significant view about
the Middle East culture.
So it might seem
a little bit different than
the Western culture
or the Asian culture,
but that’s the beauty
of diversification, that’s
how we unite because
the diversity we complete
with each other.
I am a principal dancer
in the National Troupe
of Folkloric Arts
and a shows designer.
We have been happy
with the audience fully
and the audience
has been happy with us
at the same time.
God willing, we will be
in their good opinion
and we have presented
a work that is worthy
of them.
…and share with them
our cultures, experience,
and the dramatic dance
that has been well-known
for centuries.
Thank you once again.
Thank you very much.
Above the palm
O father
Above the palm
I know not if it's her cheeks
O father
Or the moon above
I don't want her
She makes me
suffer so much
Above the palm
O my eye
Above the palm
I know not if it's her cheeks
O father
Or the moon above
I don't want her
She has no chivalry
the face of the moon
O father
His light up to Baghdad
God within you
O my eye
He graced your creation
I don't want her
She has no chivalry
Above the palm
O my eye
Above the palm
I know not if it's her cheeks
O my eye
Or the moon above
I don't want her
She makes me
suffer so much
After the performance,
the Iraqi National Troupe
for Folkloric Arts shared
their hopes of peace
with the viewers of
Supreme Master
Television.
I would like to send
greetings to my great
people in Iraq.
And we will make Iraq
proud in every place,
God willing,
With our Arab brothers
from Libya, Lebanon
and Kuwait
God willing.
This experience
could be as a reference
or a source of
reconstruction
and peace in this country.
Finally, I wish that
peace will prevail
in all the earth.
Peace be upon you.
Thank you
Supreme Master TV.
We hope that Iraq
will be soon stabilized
and to return back
to the normal situation
and the wealth.
We hope that peace
would prevail
in the whole world.
We wish for Iraq
to be united
with all ethnic groups
and minorities.
We wish peace for
the people of the world.
Bravo, National Troupe
for Folkloric Arts from
Iraq and all its gifted
and dedicated members!
May the time-honored
arts of Iraq be welcomed
everywhere you go, thus
bringing greater peace
and understanding to all.
