Today is a great day. Supreme Master Ching Hai is being honored for the good she has done for the whole world, in particular the United States. In 1993 the Supreme Master helped the United States greatly. We in the United States cannot forget this, nor shall we.

On February 22, 1994, The Supreme Master Ching Hai Day was proclaimed by the distinguished governors of the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin of the United States. During the grand ceremony held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, Supreme Master Ching Hai was also presented the World Spiritual Leadership Award and an official certificate of commendation signed by the governor.

It reads: “Whereas the Supreme Master Ching Hai has devoted her entire life to relieving the suffering of disaster victims around the world; Whereas the Supreme Master has provided assistance to the victims of the Los Angeles fires, Mount Pinatubo eruptions, and most recently, the Great Midwest Floods;

This special commendation is presented to you with great appreciation and respect from all of the people from the state of Minnesota.

On this day of February, in the year of our Lord, 1994. Terry E. Brandstad, Governor.”

For the ceremony, messages of congratulations arrived from government leaders around the world, including the United States President at the time, Bill Clinton, and two former presidents of the United States, George Bush and Ronald Reagan.

“Heartiest congratulations to Supreme Master Ching Hai on her receiving the World Spiritual Leadership Award. She is a living example of world peace and love for all, especially her help for the refugees and the many suffering people in the United States of America. As a fully enlightened Master, Supreme Master Ching Hai is profoundly connected to the inner wellspring of creativity. Her myriad artistic talents are reflected in her poetry, music, paintings, photography, film, handicrafts, as well as landscaping, jewelry and clothing designs. These inspiring artworks also serve to remind us of our heavenly origin and noble qualities.

Throughout the years, several collections of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s poetry have been published in diverse languages, elevating readers throughout the world. Through her creative endeavors, Supreme Master Ching Hai generates an independent source of income to support her charity works. Over the years, she has donated over US$20 million to disaster victims, the elderly, orphans, veterans, the homeless, animal shelters, rescue dog operations, conservational projects, and many other humanitarian endeavors, both publicly and anonymously.

Supreme Master Ching Hai’s unconditional love extends beyond the boundaries of religion, race, language, culture, and species. Among the recipients of her unconditional aid are the famine victims of North Korea and Sudan; the flood victims of the Philippines, the United States, Âu Lạc (Vietnam), China, North Korea, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, and Argentina; the drought victims of Cambodia and Kenya; typhoon and tsunami victims of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar (Burma), USA, and the Philippines; those affected by earthquakes in Haiti, Kashmir, Pakistan, China, Turkey, Peru, Algeria, Iran, Japan, and Formosa (Taiwan); victims of the volcanic eruption of the Philippines; war refugees of Afghanistan, Darfur, Kosovo, Rwanda Chechnya and Bosnia; victims of Dengue Fever in El Salvador, and others.

We are in Venezuela, a country seriously affected by the rains. We are exactly in Falcon state, Acosta District in the town of Los Cerritos. We had to come by sea because there is no entry by road. And there are many children in need, they have lack of food, lack of diapers, lack of medicine.

For that, the help has arrived just in time from Supreme Master Ching Hai. Everyone wants to talk to and thank Master.

And now with the help of Supreme Master Ching Hai, they have given us great support to be able to care for these families.

This is a blessing for Venezuela, a blessing for the state of Falcon, a blessing for our people.

More recently, she contributed US$200,000 to South Africa’s Seal Alert for the protection of these gentle animals from human culling. These organizations include Search and Rescue Dog Centre Netherlands (SRCN) and K-SAR of Chile.

In addition to monetary contributions, Supreme Master Ching Hai has personally rescued and adopted many unfortunate animals. These include 10 dogs and 24 feathered friends.

Her affectionate interaction and telepathic communication with these wonderful companions and other loving animals have been published in her three #1 international bestselling books, “The Dogs in My Life,” “The Birds in My Life,” and “The Noble Wilds.”

For her humanitarian contributions, Supreme Master Ching Hai has been honored by governments and dignitaries on many other occasions including the 1994 Star of Noble Life Award presented by the Government of Thailand; the 2006 Gusi Peace Prize presented by 14th Philippine President Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo; the 2008 Presidential Active Lifestyle Award from 43rd US President His Excellency George W. She was also interviewed by journalists, and later featured in positive media presentations which reached many people throughout the nation. I’ve been a vegan for many years, well over 20, reaching 30 very soon. I’m 70 years old, and I feel like I’m 50 or maybe 45. And that has to do with lifestyle and the way I live, and the way I eat. You can live very well as a vegan.
