amazing musical journey
and future projects.
Although living abroad
in the United States,
Habib Qaderi is a native
son of Afghanistan, who
was brought up with the
country’s rich traditions,
especially
its beautiful music.
Music has been a big part
of the culture
of Afghanistan
for the longest time.
We have different types
of music going on
in Afghanistan, it's called
the mahali music,
which is, mostly
old-fashioned instruments,
which are called, rubab,
dutar, tambur, ghichak,
dhol, zehrbaghali,
harmonium that I have.
They use that.
Then we have
the modern side of music,
which is guitars, drums,
bass, and pianos,
and all that stuff,
mixed with a harmonium
on top of this, and tablas.
The music and poetry
of Afghanistan speaks
to the hearts and souls
of her people.
Through trials
and tribulations, music is
the enduring sounds
of hope that gives rise to
inspiration and creativity.
Visiting his homeland
after 25 years,
Habib witnessed
the constructive changes
that took place.
People love music,
people are more interested
in arts, movies, film,
poetry, songs, music,
everything,it's getting
much, much better.
That's a positive side
that I saw in Afghanistan,
people are really, really,
ready to move ahead,
move forward.
Everybody's taking part
in the building
of Afghanistan,
rebuilding the country.
Many of the popular
Afghan songs are based
on the spiritual poems
of the country’s
respected Sufi saints.
Please enjoy the song,
“Ba Janan” a song
based on the poetry of
Sufi poet Sarwar Dehqan,
with music by
the renowned composer
Wahid Qasemi
and performed by
Habib Qaderi.
If only I had granted
to the Beloved
This soul that I have
If only I had granted
to the Beloved
This soul that I have
My soul is not worthy
My soul is not worthy
For the Beloved of mine
If only I had granted
to the Beloved
My whole body,
I’m a mirror of my Darling
I don’t know, I don’t know
My whole body,
I’m a mirror of my Darling
I don’t know, I don’t know
I am burning for
The separation that I have
If only I had granted
to the Beloved
This soul that I have
My soul is not worthy
My soul is not worthy
For the Beloved of mine
If only I had granted
to the Beloved
In the city of love,
there is no difference
Between faithful and infidel
In the city of love,
there is no difference
Between faithful and infidel
Be careful, they don’t
take the faith I have
If only I had granted
to the Beloved
This soul that I have
My soul is not worthy
My soul is not worthy
For the Beloved of mine
If only I had granted
to the Beloved
Enlightening Entertainment
will continue with
our show featuring
renowned Afghan singer
Habib Qaderi.
Please stay tuned
to Supreme Master
Television,
we’ll be right back
after these brief messages.
Nowruz be blessed upon us
Night of wandering turn
into day upon us
Oh God,
I will make a prayer
Prosperity and humility
be upon victory
May your memory
be living,
Oh KhwajaSafa of Kabul!
From Shewaki
up to Charqala of Kabul
We passed through Taimani,
Arrived in Shahrenaw
We held a party for a time,
in the corners of Kabul
We told stories of long ago,
In the streets of Kabul
Kabul, oh Kabul,
I’m away from you
Welcome back to
Enlightening Entertainment
on Supreme Master
Television.
We now continue
with our program on the
acclaimed Afghan singer
Habib Qaderi.
During his rise to stardom,
Habib has garnered
numerous awards
for his singing talent.
However,
he does not forget
to assist others
that cross his path.
In the Afghan music world,
Habib serves
as a role model
to emerging artists and
helps introduce them
to his fans.
His heart of gold extends
to the less fortunate
in his homeland
through his plans
to help a music school.
What other future projects
do you have
coming up now?
I'm going back to
Afghanistan hopefully
to do some more concerts
and do some more
charity work, and then
probably, hopefully
to get some sponsors to
help out the Music School
in Afghanistan.
It's all destroyed
and the walls are down.
They want to
rebuild that school,
and for the first time ever
in Afghanistan, girls
attended music school.
Oh, that's great.
They were playing violin,
they were playing piano,
and flute.
And it was very, very
surprising for me
to see Afghan girls
attending music school.
And that's
one of my big steps
to hopefully get some help
from some big musicians
and artists in America
and around the world
to go out there and help out,
build that music school
in Afghanistan.
They need a lot of help
in the country.
It's in Kabul.
Most of the students
are orphans.
They just stay
in that school,
they sleep there,
they play music and
they learn and read.
Through his songs,
Habib Qaderi expresses
a range of emotions ranging
from the joys of love
to spiritual awakening
to the longing
for his homeland.
Habib shares
his hopeful wishes for
Afghanistan’s bright future.
Afghanistan was
the main attractive
tourist location
People from Europe,
from America,
from Australia, they would
go visit Afghanistan,
because it was
the best spot to go visit.
I hope my country
will become the same
as like 34 years ago,
where people will go
and visit that country
for its great things
that it has in there,
the villages, beautiful cities
and all that stuff.
And I hope that will
come back again one day.
Proud of
his Afghan traditions,
Habib maintains his roots
in his music
while exploring
international influences
to create unique
and original rhythms
and melodies.
To conclude today’s show,
please enjoy the original
song, “Kandahar,”
based on the poem
by Aziz Hatif,
with music and vocals
by Habib Qaderi.
Dress up, o beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
Dress up, o beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
Dress up, o beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
Dress up, o beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
Those gardens, picnics
in Babasahep
Those gardens, picnics
in Babasahep
Come, my beloved,
to go the city of love
Come, my beloved,
to go the city of love
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
Dress up, o beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
Dress up, o beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
Kharqa Sharif,
Ahuri, Baghepul,
Chelzin’e Kharqa Sharif,
Ahuri, Baghepul, Chelzin’e
Put on your veil, beautiful
To go and
visit those places
Put on your veil, beautiful
To go and
visit those places
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
Dress up, beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
Dress up, beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
I dreamt last night
that we went to Kandahar
Dress up, beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
Dress up, beautiful,
to go to the tulip garden
