Considered the single most important traditional holiday in some places, the Lunar New Year is observed in China, Formosa (Taiwan), Âu Lạc (Vietnam), North and South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Tibet, Indonesia, and in Asian communities throughout the world. It is a festive time that brings the whole family together and gives a chance to greet the future with sincere wishes for a better world.

This year, according to the Eastern Zodiac, we welcome the Year of Tiger, a magnificent being that exudes an air of courage, vitality, and strength. Thus, with refreshed determination and vigor, we look forward to a brilliant year of fulfilling our noblest goals.

Throughout the decades, our international Association members have had the honor of seeing the Lunar New Year holiday with Supreme Master Ching Hai. During these blissful times together, whether singing springtime melodies, donning colorful traditional costumes, or sharing delicious vegan delights, an uplifting atmosphere was enjoyed and treasured by all. On this auspicious occasion, it is our great privilege to present a three-day series of vibrant Lunar New Year performances by our Association members and friends!

At this special time as we enter the Lunar New Year of the Tiger, we respectfully offer our gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai for your constant love, care, encouragement, and guidance. We pray deeply for your peace, health, happiness, and the fulfillment of your sacred mission. Happy New Year dear! Did you know it is the Year of the Tiger?

Tiger? I want it to be the Year of the Princess.

Well, let me tell you a story…

On the very first day of the Year of the Tiger, a grand celebration was planned for the most majestic Tiger of all the lands to honor the rein of his year. As he enters the grand buffet of his coronation feast, the guests look at him with fear, for his smile reveals his sharp and pointed teeth. The Tiger, who walks with great strength and pride, ignores their fearful reactions as he struts past them towards God.

As he turns to God and greets him, God says: "Congratulations Tiger! This is your year, but I am sorry to tell you it may not remain so, for there are new rules.” The Tiger looks devastated and confused as God speaks. “Yes, you have heard correctly. The laws of the universe have changed. We are now living in the Golden Era, and the celestial rulers are required to be living examples of compassion and wisdom. Therefore, I don’t know if you have the requirements to reign over the planet this year.”

The tiger’s grand stature slumps down as he begs God for further explanation and a chance. After a great moment of silence, God’s grace is bestowed on the Tiger. God agrees to give the Tiger a chance, but only under one condition.

If he wants to exercise his rights, he must treat his subjects with compassion and respect their lives. He vows to God that he will make his best attempt.

The Tiger walks slowly away from God’s throne with his head bowed. Though it is still his own party, it is clear to all attending he is worried and sad. Seeing the Tiger alone in a corner, the rabbit comes from the buffet with a delicious salad plate and sits next to the tiger, then introduces herself as the one who will govern after the year of the Tiger. The Tiger tells her his problem and the Rabbit says: "Being vegan is easy, there is much variety and colors of vegetables and fruits, and look, I'm healthy and beautiful."

The Tiger let out a roar and he raises his voice: "Of course it's easy for you to say. You are so small you could eat anything and you will be full. Look at my size, I would starve, losing my image of authority!" Rabbit, seeing the Tiger's response, hops off in sadness.

The Tiger seeing the Rabbit’s reaction, feels sorry. He then becomes enlightened. "If only they knew how noble and honest we tigers are. I will now live my life to reflect the nobility of tigers.”

Seeing that the rabbit left his salad beside him, the Tiger tries it and is surprised at how delicious it is. He runs to the buffet and refills his plate.

The room fills with the sound of applause and praise. The Tiger blushes and slowly looks around and notices the fear in everyone’s faces has been replaced with warm smiles. This makes his heart feel full of love towards them. He watches the crowd part as the Bull passes by with his crown and comes right towards him with a kind and friendly smile. The Tiger begins to feel a peace within him as the bull approaches.

When he stands in front of the Tiger, the Bull takes off his crown, and while placing it onto Tiger, the Bull says, "I know you will succeed. I trust you. I'm vegan and look at my size, my strength, love, and admiration from everyone towards me. I'm sure you'll do even better than me this year." The Tiger asks in despair: "How can I be a vegan ? How can I rule according to the Golden Age? This meal was good, but how will I keep it up? How... How...?"

The Bull smiles as he points to the buffet table full of delicious vegan food and says: "The answer to all your questions is called LOVE. If you can feel love towards your friends, you won’t eat them. You will be satisfied and love will be the example that you will give to humanity."

The Tiger looks out over the gathering, their smiles and encouraging kindness still warming his heart. Feeling lovingly back towards his new friends he adjusts his crown on his head with pride, and slowly returns to see God. God smiles with a nod of approval, the Tiger looks back to see all the guests as they begin to chant, "Go Tiger, You can do it! Yes, you can, Tiger!"

Tiger fills his heart full of courage and loudly announces: "Starting today, I will be loving and compassionate to all beings, I will be a vegan!" Everyone starts clapping and rejoices. He approaches the buffet table and makes a toast. He stands on his hind two legs and cries out, “Save the planet. Long live Love!” And they all raise their glasses shouting Happy New Year! Happy New Year of the Tiger! Rabbit hands over a carrot.

Everyone laughs and Tiger happily embraces God, the Bull, and the Rabbit.

Wild Wonders TV Welcome again to Wild Wonders. After two weeks of relentless pursuit in one of the harshest climates on the planet, at more than 40 degrees, our courageous production team at last were able to find the "shaggy golden tiger". We will explore the natural habitat and survival skills of this almost extinct species.

Just a few hours ago, we located the traces of the "shaggy golden tiger". If we pay attention to nature, each tree tells a story. I think I found something else. Look! There are some footprints! This is a huge footprint. It measures approximately 40 centimeters. It is not just any tiger.

Definitely this is the footprint of our tiger. Besides, it's still warm. This animal is very close.

Every 12 years, coincidentally in the lunar year of the tiger, these animals go out of their natural habitat, exploring unknown horizons. This is a historic moment for us all. Never has a human come so far. Did you see what I saw? Come! It’s the tail of my tiger! It’s... look, this bright color. Definitely this has to be the Golden Tiger.

We are going to approach a little closer. By this side. See how this tiger moves! How sad, it is trying to escape from his claws and cannot. I think this is the end of our little poor friend. So green, so round and fat... it's a chayote! It's a chayote? Of course, did you know that, chayotes have many vitamins? And in addition, iron too. It’s exactly what the tigers need, for its daily diet.

We are having technical difficulties. We'll be right back soon. Apparently, the Golden Tigers this year, precisely the Golden Year, decided to change their diet. And also stop hunting.
