Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, also a qualified medical doctor, has issued a decree that bans smoking in public places including inside cafes, restaurants, educational institutions, health centers, sports halls, cinemas and theatres, and during business meetings. The new legislation is an extension to a 2006 law that granted smoke-free status to all public transport and some public places.
Our accolades Your Excellency and Syria, for your protection of fellow citizens’ health. May the people of Syria be blessed with clean, fresh air and jubilant vitality.
