Link between alcohol consumption and cancer clarified.

It has long been known that drinking alcohol is associated with increased risk of cancer, and researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago have now identified a cellular pathway that helps explain the link.

According to study coauthor, Dr. Christopher Forsyth, alcohol intake initiates certain processes inside the cell that are involved in the formation of aggressive forms of cancer. The research also revealed that alcohol activates a growth factor required by the cancer cells once they are formed.

Dr. Forsyth and colleagues, we appreciate your research revealing more about alcohols

dangerous link to cancer. We look forward to the day when people everywhere live in vibrant, intoxicant-free health.
