Greetings, cherished viewers. Today we are going to explore the wisdom and culture of one of the most fascinating ancient civilizations ever known – the Mayan people. The Mayan civilization flourished in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and Central America for many thousands of years. They achieved heights of sophistication in the arts and sciences that are still astonishing experts to this day.

During an April 2011 videoconference in the United States, Supreme Master Ching Hai revealed insights about the pyramids and other evidence of the great technological and astronomical knowledge of the ancients such as the Mayans.

At that time, they didn’t even have those telescopes that were so powerful that you could see the celestial bodies. They didn't. Well, we suppose they didn't. Yes. So, whatever it is, they must have been very elevated people. They were lucky and wise.

I'm sure they have a lot of knowledge, wisdom, from great, great masters at that time.

Maybe those masters also came from the other planets as I have told you.

Come and choose some people and teach them the art of everything. Yes. Just like in many other countries where the pyramids were built.

Today we’ll meet two experts of the Mayan legacy, which is also relevant to humanity today. First, Ms. Emy Shanti will share about the Mayans’ unique relationship with the cosmos, and in particular the famous Mayan calendar.

Psychologist Emy Shanti was born and raised in Argentina. She always had a spiritual connection to the Earth and animals. At a young age became a vegetarian. Her strong spiritual intuition eventually told her of her mystical kinship with the Mayan civilization.

In a meditation, I have this kind of voice or feeling to go to Mexico. It was really, really strong. So I decide to go. So I went to Cancún and I start looking at all the “Ruta Maya,” they call, where all the Mayan spiritual centers in Mexico are. But I went to Chiapas, to Palenque, and all the Quintana Roo, the Yucatán area, all those pyramids. And I did this trip all by myself. I was going to every spiritual center to do meditation. And I knew where I had to go. And I was sitting in certain places, repeating mantras that I never heard in my life.

So, that was unbelievable for me because I was feeling completely guided to do this. And completely connected with the energy, with the culture, like if I knew the places. I never was there before and Argentina and Mexico are really far away. So I didn't have any contact. I didn't have any background. I just knew that I have to be there.

Ms. Emy Shanti was transformed by her experience in Mexico. Her knowledge and understanding blossomed and her spiritual path took off in new directions. Eventually, she was called to share the cosmic wisdom of the Mayans with others. Particularly fascinating is the lore and history of the Mayan calendar.

Actually, it is a shame, but most of the amazing books of wisdom were destroyed. But they couldn't destroy the stones, the rocks where there were carved a lot of knowledge. The Mayan calendar came from that. And they make a lot of studies. They have many calendars. There was amazing knowledge they have from the universe, the stars, the movement of the planets. They didn't have any telescope to look at the stars; even they know about planets that the scientists now they are discovering. So they knew, they were the magicians of times. They knew perfectly how the calendar works.

So developed was their astrology that the Mayan people nurtured the special talents of each individual based on the exact time of their birth.

I think that is amazing because, suppose, when somebody was born at a certain time, they knew, through the calendar, what you are good at. Suppose if you are in the year in the day that you were born to be an artist, they prepare you since you were a little kid to be the best artist you can be. Or, I don't know, an architect or whatever you are, you were born with that quality.

So there were great mathematicians, the Mayan culture. They were preparing you since you were a child to be the best you can be with your own qualities. (Wow.) Yes, it is. I love the Mayan calendar because it is the day that you were born, the time that you were born, everything has a meaning. And it's perfect.

To many people, the Mayan perspective of the cosmic and spiritual significance of the upcoming year 2012 is particularly interesting.

We were in a moment of the planetary movement that the Sun was in perfect alignment with the central Sun of the galaxy, and the planet, and all the stars. That happened every 26,000 years. So we're returning into that cycle of 26,000 years in the 2012. (Oh, wow.) So in that moment, everything changed completely. It's like entering to a new age, a new cycle. It's like a kind of spiritual vortex that opens. Consciousness changes. The place that we were is going to change completely. So, they say that every 26,000 years is major changes in the planet.

The Mayans had a special understanding of the cosmos and Earth’s unique place in it. Emy Shanti shares about their valuable insight and spiritual legacy.

How they knew that we are in the Milky Way, if they didn't have any telescope to really know the stars and the planets and the constellations, what really happened there? How they knew that? I really believe that because we are one with the universe, I believe that they had the opening that we don't have right now to know. They had the wisdom of the stars. So the knowledge was there, available for them, within themselves. And they were bringing that knowledge into the Earth. And they knew, they knew, intuitively they knew.

And I don't know if you are familiar with the Kali Yuga of the Hinduism. This is more or less six thousand and something years of darkness. And the Mayans has that prophecy, too, that we're going to be thousands of years that the spirituality, the wisdom, we're going to be kind of closed. We're going to be blind to that. And right now, we are in a moment that it is opening up again. (Wow.) Actually, the period of darkness for the Mayans finished in 1996. And from there, this is the call to wake up the spiritual centers, the pyramids, to bring the spiritual energy into the planet for the big change that is going to happen.

In line with their elevated spirituality, music had a special place in the life of the ancient Mayan people.

The Mayans knew that everything that is created has a soul – the Sun, the stars, the mountains, the rivers, the air. And one of the things that I really, really love is that through sounds – sound is vibration – through sounds, we can change everything. So the Mayans were amazing musicians and they were working with the vibration of the sounds to change, in a molecular level, the consciousness.

Music, vibration and sound truly held a magical place in the Mayan culture. Next, Ms. Emy Shanti introduces us to her friend Mr. Javier Quijas Yxaytl, an indigenous Mexican who since childhood has had a fascination with the musical tradition of the Mayans. He has devoted his life to its preservation and like Ms. Shanti is a vegetarian.

I know you are an exceptional musician, a pre-Hispanic musician, who makes your own instruments. So here we have many of the instruments that you made. Tell me: How did you start with the Mayan theme?

Well, since I was a child, I liked music, because I grew up in this environment. I saw my great grandfather playing his flute, and from there was born that inspiration for the music of ancestral origin. The Mayan subject intrigued me very much for many years, and I began researching their music. Then, I started researching a lot, in museums. I went to the Museum of Anthropology and History, where I have a friend working there. He showed me many Mayan instruments.

Those kinds of instruments will only be seen in museums, only in museums. But nothing else is there, you cannot hear them. I had the fortune to play several original Mayan instruments and I was fortunate to play them and then I learned to study and then make them. And I've been doing this many years.

Mr. Javier Quijas Yxaytl shares about the many wonderful musical instruments of the Mayans and the magical sounds they produce.

With your own hands you constructed all the instruments that you're going to show us today.

Sure, sure, I make all of them. This, the Tuncules, they are there... below... I'm going to show you... In the Nahuatl language, it is called Teponaztli, but in the Mayan language it is called Tunkul. It is the same instrument. I have here some very interesting flutes...

Here is this one... I'll show you. This flute has... it’s a double flute, with a bass and a flute that are played together, and produces a very… very unique, very mysterious sound. Do you want to hear it?

Sure.

Incredible! Beautiful! Wow!

Ms. Emy Shanti further explains the Mayans’ understanding of the magical power of music and sound and the transformative effect it can have on ourselves and our world.

It’s like a meditation. We’re creating some type of ancestral vibration that is changing, in a molecular level, in a cell level, the information that we have. We are bringing everything into balance with nature, and finally, what we need is to be in balance with nature. If we are connected with nature, everything will be beautiful because we are nature.

Ms. Emy Shanti, thank you for sharing with us a glimpse of the wisdom of the highly developed Mayan culture. Our appreciation as well, Mr. Javier Quijas Yxaytl, for keeping the profound musical heritage of the Mayans alive. May a bright spiritual awakening as foretold by the Mayan wise ones be realized through humanity’s self-elevating efforts to live in peace and harmony.

Open-minded viewers, thank you for exploring with us the cosmic wisdom and music of the ancient Mayan civilization. Now, please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for Words of Wisdom, after Noteworthy News. May we soon greet an age of complete bliss and compassion.
