美國24州發布高溫警報

美國德州北部各郡連續12天氣溫超過華氏100度（即攝氏38度），目前已有2人喪生，截至7月14日，美國有24州已發布高溫警報，共有39人喪生。

孕婦抽煙危害胎兒

2011年7月12日英國研究報告揭露孕婦抽煙會增加至少25％新生兒先天性缺陷的風險，如：四肢畸形或缺乏、內翻足、顱骨缺損與顎裂等，亦增50％新生兒腸道露出體外的風險。
