The historic signing between the central government and the United Somali Liberation Front on Thursday,
July 29 was witnessed by attending diplomats and representatives of the African Union and United Nations in the capital, Addis Ababa.
Under the terms of the accord, Ethiopia is granting amnesty to all voluntarily disarmed leaders and members
of the group, which has operated in the country for the past two decades. The government has also committed to help the individuals reintegrate into society. In a statement made before the gathering, Chairman Sheik Ibrahim Mohamed Hussein of the United Somali Liberation Front promised to work towards peace and security with the government.
