Israeli cabinet discusses US-proposed Palestinian construction freeze. Following discussions with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the Israeli Cabinet on Sunday, November 14, where he proposed a renewal of peace negotiations with Palestinian parties. As part of the proposal, Israel would accept US incentives that include an offer of United Nations support, and in turn would issue a 90-day moratorium on building Jewish settlements in the Palestinian West Bank. An aide to Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Cabinet members would vote on the proposal when the details are finalized. US President Barack Obama commended the Israeli prime minister’s presentation, saying that it demonstrated his commitment to the peace process.

We thank Prime Minister Netanyahu and other Cabinet ministers for your willingness to continue working toward the goal of harmonious relations with the Palestinian people. Our prayers for the day to soon arrive that lasting peace is enjoyed by all across the Middle East.
