The Paris Club forgives debt owed by Democratic Republic of the Congo. The group of 19 creditor nations from the world’s developed economies, plus Brazil, agreed to waive US$7.35 billion in debt, representing over half of the $13.7 billion owed at the end of 2009. In exchange for the debt waiver, the Congolese government pledged to channel equivalent funds toward reducing poverty in the nation.
Our sincere thanks, Paris Club members, and Providence bless your generosity of spirit. May the noble-hearted Congolese people prosper in stability, comfort and peace.
For their exceptional benevolence, Supreme Master Ching Hai is honoring the Paris Club members with the Shining World Leadership Award.
