American researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found meditation helps to enhance the function of the alpha rhythm.
This is the frequency particularly responsible for the cells in the cortex area of the brain which process touch, sight and sound. Study co-leader Dr. Catherine Kerr stated, “Our discovery that mindfulness meditators more quickly adjusted the brain wave that screens out distraction could explain their superior ability to rapidly remember and incorporate new facts.”
Kudos, Dr. Kerr and fellow researchers, for demonstrating some of the benefits of meditation. May serene hearts and tranquil minds be experienced by all for a peaceful world.
