Bumblebees solve complex math problems. British scientists at the University of London, UK have discovered that bumblebees are capable of performing complex mathematical calculations to determine the shortest route between flowers, making food gathering most efficient. In the study, the bees quickly learned the most effective route even when the flowers were discovered in a different order. Lead researcher Dr. Nigel Raine said, “Despite their tiny brains, bees are capable of extraordinary feats of behavior. We need to understand how they can solve … (this) problem without a computer. What short-cuts do they use?”
How incredible! Many thanks, Dr. Raine and University of London colleagues for these observations that offer further insights into the amazing intelligence of the humble bee. May we continue to respect and learn from all the cherished animal co-inhabitants we have been bestowed by the Divine.
