More countries report potentially lethal swine flu mutations.

Chinese authorities have identified 8 mutation cases, raising concerns among scientists that the disease could soon evolve into a more virulent and deadly form.

Dr. Zhong Nanshan, Director of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases in China explained that the nations risk for a deadly mutation due to a combination of H1N1 swine flu and H5N1 bird flu is extremely high because the bird flu virus has been prevalent in the country for some time.

Meanwhile, World Health Organization officials are looking into reports from nations such as Norway, where a variant swine flu virus has been linked to two deaths and one severe illness with reportedly deeper airway tissue infection. According to the World Health Organization, this same mutation has been detected in cases, some fatal, in France, Brazil, Ukraine, the United States, Japan, and Mexico. The spread of swine flu alone has been the fastest recorded for a pandemic to date, more than can be counted. Based on estimates, Iran recently reported over a million infections, and France now reports over two million. Deaths from the swine flu also continue to grow, including 404 new fatalities announced in Ukraine including pneumonia cases, 566 in India, 279 in Canada, 104 in South Korea, 16 in Russia, 17 in Serbia, 14 in Jordan, and 16 in Portugal. China saw 51 swine flu fatalities within the past week alone, for a total official death toll of 104. World fatalities reported by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control are surpassing 8,452, though this best figure is also acknowledged to be a complete underestimate.

We appreciate the concern of the World Health Organization, Dr. Zhong Nanshan and all others working to keep the public informed of the risks and prevalence of swine flu mutations. Our prayers that with this information everyone will swiftly adopt animal-free lifestyles, doing all it takes to stop such tragic diseases and ensure the health of generations.
