Videoconference from New York, USA with Supreme Master Ching Hai. Our Association members in New York, USA on Sunday had the opportunity to hold a conference with Supreme Master Ching Hai. In light of people’s increasing awareness of the urgency of climate change, many questions focused on the spiritual implications of global warming and how we can respond.
Supreme Master Ching Hai reminded the audience of the deeper purpose of endeavors to save the planet.
Video conference with Supreme Master Ching Hai
with New York Center, New York, USA – July 13, 2008
Supreme Master Ching Hai: Save the planet first and things will change after. It’s not you alone who can save the planet; it’s the people who change their consciousness. If they go veg, go green, do good, then, that means they have changed for the better; their consciousness has gone up, a higher level. Then, of course, they merit the Earth. They could continue to live here, and their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. At that time, people will be in a higher level of consciousness, and things will be clearer to them and to all. We will live in peace and love. You have to envision a positive world, the Heaven on Earth that you would like it to be. You have to envision the nobler world, the positive world, the beautiful world, the Heaven world. Saving the world is a compassionate act.
VOICE: We send our gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai, whose unconditional love is a source of inspiration and deep comfort to humanity today. May we all aspire to the compassionate way of life to preserve not only our world but also our original noble nature.
Please tune in to Supreme Master Television at a later date for the broadcast of this videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, with multi-language subtitles.
Study shows air quality affects children’s cognitive development. A study by Columbia University in the USA compared children born in China while a nearby coal plant was operating to those born after it had been closed. They found that the clean air resulting from the closure also eliminated certain neurodevelopment issues that were present in the children born while the plant was still operational. Chief researcher Professor Frederica Perera cited the direct evidence provided by this study, saying, “These findings have major implications for environmental health and energy policy as they demonstrate that reduction in dependence on coal for energy can have a measurable positive impact on children's development and health - in China and elsewhere.”
Thank you, scientists for showing this valuable connection between air quality and the health of our precious children. In light of this information, may governments strive toward high environmental standards for the benefit of all citizens.
Climate change can lead to increase in kidney stone cases. According to a study just published in the “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,” by University of Texas, USA urologists Tom Brikowski and Margaret Pearle, as temperatures rise in the United States due to global warming, those at higher risk for kidney stones will grow to 56 percent of the US population. Higher temperatures cause more dehydration, a condition which hastens stone formation. However, the scientists stated based on past experience that people are unlikely to increase their water intake in response to the hotter weather.
The study estimates that climate change will cause 2 million extra kidney stone cases, costing as much as US$1 billion annually.
Many thanks Drs. Brikowski and Pearle for your informative research that conveys this important health effect of climate change. We pray that studies such as these awaken citizens and leaders alike to the immediate actions needed to halt global warming and restore our verdant Earth.
