On Monday, 34 members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) from the Qandil Mountains and a refugee camp in Iraq entered Turkey and voluntarily surrendered heir weapons to show their support for the Turkish government’s peace plans.

The group was ceremoniously greeted by Turkish Democratic Society Party (DTP) leaders and party officials, as well as thousands of Kurdish Turk supporters who waved flags, sang, and danced. Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister of Turkey Dr. Ibrahim Kalin said, “It is a very good sign. It is one of the first fruits of the democratic initiative.”

Our warm congratulations, Kurdistan Workers Party members and Turkey for your joyful reconciliation. With the grace of the Providence, may your nation ever prosper in unity and peace.
