Meeting in the Somali Presidential Palace, Mr. Shuke Abdirahman Odawa of the Hizbul group relinquished his arms and renounced his group’s former resistance. Meanwhile, scores of men arrived at Somali bases across the country to hand in their weapons to government officials.

National Security Minister Abdullahi Mohammed Ali, who was present at the meeting with other top Somali officials, expressed his happiness and asked other groups to emulate Mr. Odawa’s decision.
