Daily Tips
About omega-3 fatty acids
, I am Cock-a-Doodle-Dandy the Rooster. Today’s health tip is about omega-3 fatty acids, which help to reduce cholesterol levels. Omega-3 also boosts the body’s immune system, and increases the body’s production of energy and stamina. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found abundantly in flax seed and other seeds..
Adding plants to your workspace
. I’m Rufie the Dog with today’s tip. Adding plants to your workspace keeps the air clean and fresh, allowing you to stay alert and clear headed. Research shows that green and flowering plants can remove certain toxins from the air. Some of the most effective plants for cleaning the air are Bamboo Palm, Chinese Evergreen, English Ivy and the Peace Lily. Plants also beautify your office environment. Woof, woof, woof.
Sesame seeds also contain
Halo, I am Lamberta the Sheep. It’s a pleasure to see you all. Today’s nutrition tip will look at the health benefits of adding sesame seeds to your diet. Sesame seeds are super little seeds packed full of important nutrients, including manganese, copper, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, vitamin B1, zinc, protein and dietary fiber. Sesame seeds also contain sesamin and sesamolin, two substances that are thought to reduce blood pressure and strengthen the liver. Sesame seeds can be enjoyed toasted on a roll or dry fried in a pan and mixed with salt to make a sprinkle for savory dishes; you can enjoy them as a spread called tahini and even have them in a delicious sweet snack bar.
Small plants grow
You’re just in time for the tip of the day. Today’s tip is a gardening tip. In order to help young seedlings and small plants grow during the cooler months, you can create mini greenhouses by cutting plastic drink bottles in half and placing them over your little plants. This will ensure a warmer environment and protection from insects while recycling the plastic bottles at the same time. Well, I’ve got plants to water now, but before I go, let’s take a look at the weather from around the globe.
To keep salad looking fresh
. This is yours truly, Uncle Oinkster the Pig. Thanks for tuning in for the tip of the day. Here are two great uses for lemons. To freshen up a kitchen, just add lemon slices to a pot of steaming water, and then enjoy the aroma. And, to keep salad looking fresh and tasty, put lemon quarters in the water that you use to wash the lettuce. This will keep the leaves fresh and crisp, so you can enjoy all the goodness in your salads. See you again soon,
Scratches from your music CD
. I’m Jennypurrrr the Cat with a smart tip that removes scratches from your music CDs. Simply put the CD in the fridge for about 2 hours. When you take it out, you don’t need to wipe it. Just allow the condensation to dry naturally. The next time you play the CD, you will notice a great improvement in its performance. Thanks for watching; have a wonder-filled day, .
Using the tumble dryer
. I’m Flipo the Penguin and this is Flipy the Penguin. Flipy the Penguin: We have just been for a wonderful swim, and we are now tumble-drying our swimsuits and towels. Flipo the Penguin: Today’s tip is on how to save power and shorten the time when using the tumble dryer. Flipy the Penguin: Place a dry bath towel into the dryer with the wet washing. Then half way through the drying remove the towel and put it out to dry. Flipo the Penguin: The towel would have absorbed a lot of the moisture from the washing load, this way saving on drying time and power. Thanks for watching; that’s our tip for the day. Flipy the Penguin:.
Consider replacing disposable filters
Halo there, this is Clucky the Chicken, with an environmental tip for today. Disposable coffee filters need to be bleached in order to be white; however, the bleaching process adds toxins to the environment. So you might consider replacing disposable filters with reusable ones for a cleaner and healthier environment. Cluck, cluck, cluck,
Windows cleaner longer
I heard a great tip the other day for keeping your windows cleaner longer. Add about one tablespoon of cornstarch to one-third gallon of lukewarm water. Wet a cloth or sponge, squeeze out excess water and wipe the glass. Dry with either a soft cloth or paper towel. Try this with your vehicle windows, too! It can clean the dirtiest windows in half the time. This cornstarch method doesn't build up static charge on the glass, so it won’t attract dust as quickly. That’s our tip; now,
To clean up your stainless steel
Sometimes in our kitchens, the sinks and stainless steel appliances can lose their shine. To clean up your stainless steel so that it shines beautifully, use a few drops of baby oil on a cloth or piece of kitchen towel. Rub over the whole surface evenly until you see all the smudges and watermarks disappear, and your stainless steel is shining like new.
Car engine overheats
. It’s very nice to see you again; it’s time for the tip of the day. If ever your car engine overheats you can help cool the engine by turning the heater on. This circulates the hot water from the engine through the heating system, allowing the engine to cool as the water carries the heat away. If it’s hot outside, it’s a good idea to keep all your windows down so you don’t get too warm.
Salad packaged in bags
. I am Shellie the turtle and while I was at the pond today with my friends, one of them gave me a great tip. Did you know that salad packaged in bags can contain high amounts of the preservative chlorine? You might want to consider buying organic or even growing your own, which is great fun and better for your health.
Save a lot of energy
. I’m Billy the Goat with today’s energy saving tip. If you buy a new fridge or freezer you can save a lot of energy by buying one that is rated A grade. They are slightly more expensive but will save you money on your electricity bills. “A” grade appliances are also better for the environment.
To drop a small screw, a contact lens
. Halo there, I’m M’Caw the Parrot and I have a tip I’d love to share. If you happen to drop a small screw, a contact lens or anything small and difficult to locate, a great way to find it is to get the vacuum nozzle out, cover it with a piece cut from a stocking and put it over the nozzle tightly with an elastic band. When you turn the vacuum cleaner on, the stocking will work as a filter and hold anything there until you remove it.
To produce nice, big fruit
. If you have fruit trees like apple trees and you would like them to produce nice, big fruit, gently pick the young fruit off when it’s a bit smaller than a golf ball. Simply reduce the young clusters of fruits down to two to three in each cluster; the tree will then have more energy to devote for what’s left on the tree. This normally makes for bigger fruit.
