Daily Tips
Tomatoes are a powerful anti-aging super food.
I’m Uncle Oinkster with today’s nutritional tip about the tomato. Tomatoes are a powerful anti-aging super food. They are rich in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that protects cells and other structures in the body. Researchers have found that lycopene also reduces carcinogens, thus protecting the prostate, bladder, lung and stomach. Its antioxidant ability also helps maintain a healthy heart. Lycopene needs to be digested with fat to be properly absorbed in the body, so it is best to eat your tomatoes with a little olive oil. That’s our tip for the day.
The attic is usually dry, and the basement damp and prone to mold.
I’m Lamberta the Sheep with a household tip of the day. Because warm air always rises and cold air always sinks, you’ll find that in a home, the attic is usually dry, and the basement damp and prone to mold. So, to protect items that are sensitive to humidity, such as video tapes, art collections, books and clothes, store them safely somewhere high up in your home, like in the attic or a top cupboard. This way they will stay dry and protected.
Some real estate agencies are now focusing on Earth friendly homes
Hi! I’m Flipy. And I’m Flipo. So, do you have an environmental tip for our viewers today? Flipo: Sure do. Some real estate agencies are now focusing on Earth friendly homes. Flipy: You’re right, I’ve seen houses made of sustainable materials like straw bales with bamboo flooring. Flipo: Yes, real estate agencies are teaming up with local builders and designers to create more new or renovated sustainable dwellings. So, if you’re buying a new home, consider a housing development that actually helps the planet.
a health tip- improves the emotional well-being of the elderly.
I’m Bearnard the Bear with today’s health tip. Researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, USA, have discovered a health tip that improves the emotional well-being of the elderly. More than 1,700 elderly adults took part in exercise programs at four sites across the United States. The programs included balance training, muscular strength and endurance exercises, and stretching. Researchers discovered that participants experienced a marked improvement in overall emotional health and, specifically, in how they felt about themselves. Lead researcher Dr. Kenneth B. Schechtman said that all older adults should consult with their physicians before beginning an exercise program. Thanks for watching the tip of the day.
The Cat with a fun garden tip that will keep children entertained for hours.
I’m JennyPurrrr the Cat with a fun garden tip that will keep children entertained for hours. Plant a kid’s strawberry patch. It will provide you and your family with delicious organic strawberries. Children as young as two will easily be able to pick their own strawberries from the garden. It’s simple joy in the garden for the entire family.
Cayenne pepper, known for its zesty flavor, has many nutritional properties.
I’m Clucky the Chicken with today’s nutrition tip. Cayenne pepper, known for its zesty flavor, has many nutritional properties. The hotness produced by cayenne is due to its high concentration of a substance called capsaicin. Capsaicin has many cardiovascular benefits, and strengthens the lining of the stomach, lungs and colon. Capsaicin also effectively opens and drains congested nasal passages. It is an excellent source of vitamin A and an antioxidant said to be helpful in boosting immunity and maintaining healthy bones, joints and cells. That’s our “hot” tip for the day.
Drain a pail of water from your hot water tank about every 3 months
I’m Rufie the Dog with today’s energy conservation tip. As suggested by the Ontario Ministry of Energy in Canada, drain a pail of water from your hot water tank about every 3 months to remove sediment, which prevents heat transfer and therefore lowers efficiency.
To keep kitchen sponges free from bacteria and viruses
I’m Skippy the Rabbit with today’s household tip. To keep kitchen sponges free from bacteria and viruses, researchers found that a quick way is to microwave them. Wet the cleaning sponges and scrubbers, then microwave them on high for about 2 minutes. And presto! They are sterilized.
Shrubs watered every few days outgrew
I’m Oinky the Piglet, presenting today’s gardening tip. There’s a recommendation to water a newly transplanted shrub frequently. Research at the University of California showed that shrubs watered every few days outgrew shrubs watered every 10 to 12 days by almost five times. Here’s wishing you a beautiful garden. It’s now time for the weather. Oink, oink.
Sometimes need to sandpaper flooring or wooden furniture.
I’m Mooyi the Cow; you are just in time for today’s handy tip on Noteworthy News. Today’s helpful hint will be useful to those who sometimes need to sandpaper flooring or wooden furniture. Do you know that sandpaper will last longer and work better if the paper backing is dampened slightly? Yes, that’s right. So next time you work with sandpaper, you might want to give it a try.
One way to stay healthy is to remember to play
I’m Billy the Goat with today’s health tip. One way to stay healthy is to remember to play: for example, play games, play with words, play with your children. It can inspire you to think differently and give you a sense of lightness. It exercises the heart and increases energy levels. That’s our tip for the day.
Establish a garden bed just for your children
I’m M’Caw the Parrot with a tip for gardening with children. Establish a garden bed just for your children. This will allow them their own space to experiment in. In addition, your child's garden bed will provide them with a sense of autonomy in the garden. Provide them with child-size garden tools and gloves, and they will enjoy imitating the adult gardener. Imitation is an important part of their play and development. Through this, children can develop a healthy appreciation of nature. Happy gardening to the whole family
Hammering in small nails can be challenging
I’m Lionardo the Lion with a handy tip. Hammering in small nails can be challenging; to make it easier, place the nail between the teeth of a comb, and hammer away. That’s our tip of the day.
Maple syrup is also a good source of manganese and zinc.
I’m Herrrrman the Horse with today’s nutrition tip. As a source of sugar, maple syrup contains fewer calories and a higher concentration of minerals than honey. Maple syrup is also a good source of manganese and zinc. Manganese is important for energy production, while the zinc acts as an antioxidant to decrease the incidence of atherosclerosis. Zinc and manganese are important allies in the immune system. Maple syrup is also tasty.
Gardening tip-some useful ways to use a plastic laundry basket
I’m Cock-a-Doodle Dandy with today’s gardening tip. Here are some useful ways to use a plastic laundry basket. When you're going out to work in the garden, use the basket to carry hand tools, gloves, seeds, and fertilizer. When you're finished gardening, put all the weeds and clippings in your handy basket and carry them to the compost pile. Also, when harvesting root crops such as beetroots, turnips, or carrots, just leave them in the basket while you wash them with the garden hose. That’s the tip for today.
