气候难民
- 目前估计已有2,500万至3,000万气候难民。到2050年,人数可能会增加到2亿或高达10亿。
- 尼泊尔第1个「气候难民村」,有150人因气候暖化引起水源短缺而被迫进行重新安置。(2010年7月)
冲突
- 美国情报体系(Intelligence Community)认为,地球暖化是一项严重的安全威胁。美国首席情报分析员托马斯‧芬加(Thomas Fingar)表示,世界上的很多地区,不久将因为洪水和干旱而导致大规模移民潮和动荡不安。 (2010年)
- 证据指出,全球暖化是达佛(Darfur)发生暴力事件的主要原因。(《大西洋月刊》〔Atlantic Monthly〕,2007年)
疾病
- 气温升高,导致疟疾、蓝舌病病毒、西尼罗病毒、登革热和其他疾病额外传播给数以百万的人,这些人住在纬度较高地区或其他大陆地区,本来不会暴露在这些传染病之中。
- 由于气候变迁,到2080年,会增加4亿人遭受感染疟疾之威胁。(联合国 )
- 随着全球暖化,预计将有更多的呼吸系统疾病(如气喘)和精神疾病(由于灾难所引起)。
死亡
- 气候变迁引起的灾难,在1年里已造成315,000人死亡,另有3.25亿人受到严重影响。(全球人道论坛〔Global Humanitarian Forum〕,2009年)
粮食短缺
- 在本世纪内,世界一半人口将面临严重的粮食短缺。 (《科学》杂志,华盛顿大学的研究人员,2009年)
- 俄罗斯、德国、加拿大、阿根廷、澳洲、乌克兰、巴基斯坦等国,农获量已因干旱或洪水而减少。 (2010年9月)
- 2010年8月,全球粮食价格上涨了5%。在莫桑比克,因面包涨价所引起的粮食暴动导致10人死亡、300人受伤。(2010年9月)
- 由于气候变迁加上印度与中国人民对动物饲料的需求增加,导致食物价格高涨,引发了2008年致命的全球粮食暴动。(联合国世界粮食计划署〔World Food Programme〕)
- 在2009年,世界饥饿人口首次突破10亿人。
- 全世界每年超过900万人死于饥饿和营养不良,其中500万人是儿童。
缺水
- 世界上的河流正处于全球性的「危机状态」。供应近80%世界人口的水资源正遭到严重威胁。根据研究,近叁分之一的水源也因生物多样性的丧失而面临高度危险。 (美国威斯康辛大学麦迪逊分校的研究学者彼得‧麦金太尔教授〔Peter McIntyre〕暨纽约市立学院的建模专家查尔斯‧佛洛斯马提〔Charles Vörösmarty〕)

- 中东地区的供水已经缩减为1960年的四分之一。 (阿拉伯环境与发展论坛〔AFED〕,2010年) 由于干旱,底格里斯河和幼发拉底河水位已降至平常的叁分之一以下。 (联合国机构间情报和分析单位〔IAU〕)
- 英国气候越来越热,夏季越来越干燥,河流水量已减少 80%,可能导致极端的缺水情况。(2010年英国政府科学办公室〔Government Office for Science〕)
- 供应我们世界一半人口的井水之地下水源正逐渐枯竭。(澳洲蒙那许大学兰斯‧安得斯碧教授〔Lance Endersbee〕)
