In a June 13 news report, the US National Interagency Fire Center raises concern at the number of wildfires in the US, saying that over 4.1 million acres have burned already so far this year, more than the total for all of 2010 and more at this time of year than in any year in the last decade.

Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reports that as of June 9, 23 Thai provinces are drought-ridden, with 14 others facing excessively dry conditions, while 30 provinces in the north have been warned of potential flooding due to  torrential rains.
