The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture announces on October 28, 2011 the introduction of an intercropping technique in Rwanda where farmers grow banana trees alongside coffee bushes to help fertilize the soil, in efforts to adapt and safeguard against the harms of climate change.

A group of eco-advocates in Africa are setting out on November 9, 2011 on a journey across 10 countries in an effort to raise support and collect signatures for the African People’s petition on climate change, to be presented to South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma for the upcoming UN climate talks.
