In health news, a study shows quitting smoking improves one’s mood. American scientists from Brown University and Miriam Hospital, both in Rhode Island, and the University of Southern California analyzed 236 men and women who wanted to stop smoking. Participants were assessed as to their psychological state at various times. It was found that those who were abstaining from the harmful habit at the check-up times had elevated moods. Individuals who went back to smoking were tested to have decreased levels of happiness. People who stayed totally free of smoking were the most joyful overall.

Our thankfulness, participating scientists, for highlighting one of the advantages of giving up the debilitating habit. May life-affirming practices be adopted by all for a flourishing future.
