With nine people recently hospitalized with Listeria infections, two of whom died, the state of Colorado, USA on September 2, 2011 issued an urgent alert recommending avoidance of foods often contaminated with the bacteria such as soft cheeses, canned fish, hot dogs and other processed meats.
