Brain benefits of fish eating disproved.

Research from Wageningen University in the Netherlands has concluded that fatty acids from fish have no beneficial effect whatsoever on cognitive functions such as memory and concentration in the elderly.

A study of more than 300 individuals over 65 years of age evaluated three groups, two that were given fish oil capsules equivalent to either one or two portions of fish per week and a third control group that received no fish oil. Testing of cognitive functions such as attention, cognitive processing speed and memory showed absolutely no difference between the groups. In fact, advertised claims of fish oils favorable effects on the brain have never been proven, and the Dutch study was actually the first to quantify them.

We appreciate this revealing research, Wageningen University scientists. May we all realize the wise and compassionate choice of removing fish and other meat products from our diets in favor of health-boosting plant-based foods.
