A giant egg-laying facility 80 miles east of San Francisco, California USA that houses more than 700,000 hens is under investigation for operating without proper permits.

Residents of the town have endured headaches and nausea for more than a decade from the toxic fumes emitted by the manure that fills a 16.5-acre lagoon.

Community member Janice Magaoay stated: “We're all people and we all deserve to be treated with respect; our children are here and we want to live here.
We shouldn't have to leave because of (the stench) and it shouldn't be legal.”

Last month, the Humane Society of the United States petitioned for an investigation, and the operation now faces six violations of air quality regulations.

Humane Society of the United States and courageous area residents, our earnest appreciation for your efforts to clean and restore the environment. We look forward to the day that all beings live in dignity and health through our loving, animal-free food choices.
