In a second such outbreak in July, a warning has been issued by the state health department in Colorado, USA for consumers to avoid the purchase of ground beef due to tainting with Salmonella.

The bacteria which originates from fecal matter that is often contained in the meat, can cause diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps and in severe cases, even death.

This particular strain has sickened 21 people so far and is resistant to some antibiotic treatment. Thankfully no one has died from the contaminated beef.

Colorado food safety officials, our gratitude for sharing this information to protect public health. May the day soon arrive when all of us consume hygienic and wholesome vegan foods.
