Citing higher health care costs and increasing societal troubles from rising consumption of alcohol over the past two decades, the British Medical Association (BMA) has recommended complete prohibition of advertising.

In its report, the Association stated that some portion of the alcohol industry’s current US$1.3 billion annual advertising budget should be instead mandated to go toward sport and art event sponsorship.

It also recommended minimum drink pricing, taxation on alcohol that is higher than the rate of inflation and more stringent government action to dissuade drinking.

Our respectful appreciation, British Medical Association for your insightful research and recommendations.
May the day swiftly come that such harmful substances are no more, for the greater happiness of persons and families everywhere.
