Scientists have long known that diets with lower calorie levels can minimize ageing effects. Now, a team of British researchers at University College London have found that specifically reducing consumption of the amino acid methionine, found in high quantities in meat and fish, can extend lifespan.

Since this amino acid is not prevalent in a veg diet, the research concludes that the plant-based lifestyle, even without reduced caloric intake, yields a longer life.

Our thanks, British scientists, for your insightful work that shows even more advantages of the healthful meat-free diet. May all people soon adopt compassionate vegan fare and enjoy its multifold benefits.
