Around 1.2 million pounds of pepper-coated salami were recalled on Saturday, January 23 by a meat company in Rhode Island state due to concerns that it is responsible for the 184 people who have fallen ill thus far since July 2009 with Salmonella contamination.

Food poisoning from Salmonella often originates in contaminated meat or eggs and can be life-threatening in vulnerable populations.  We are thankful for the recall to protect public health as we send our prayers for the soon recovery of those who have been stricken.

Let us all choose the plant-based lifestyle as the safest and most humane to offer ourselves and our cherished loved ones.
