Canadian-born, United Kingdom resident Mrs. Blanche Mannix walked into the Free Press local newspaper office herself to let the publication know it was her birthday.

Silvia Burnett, manager of Mallard Court residential home where Mrs. Mannix lives, remarks that not only is the youthful elder very sprightly, she is probably more fit than most of us.

While being interviewed for her 103rd birthday two years ago, Mrs. Mannix affirmed that her good health and longevity could be attributed to her dietary fare as she stated, “I am a lifelong vegetarian and have never been interested in meat. I have lived 103 years on vegetables so I don't think I've done badly.” Our admiring salute and a big happy birthday wish, Mrs. Blanche Mannix!
