Sweden takes measures to further protect cats and dogs. The Swedish government is bolstering the 2007 European Union-wide ban on the possession, sales or distribution of products containing cat or dog fur by making the acts a crime and imposing penalties including fines. Minister for Agriculture Eskil Erlandsson, whose department will monitor compliance with the law remarked on the constructive benefits of this latest animal welfare development.

Our sincere appreciation, Minister Erlandsson and Sweden for your loving care towards our canine and feline friends. May animal companions in Sweden and worldwide be cherished by humans and enjoy lives of dignity, comfort and love.
