In animal welfare news, Taichung City, Formosa (Taiwan) is working to provide loving homes for feline and canine friends. The Loving Care Station is a special project initiated by the Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Center. It seeks to make the adoption of dog and cat companions more accessible through the participation of 14 animal companion shops.

Interview in Chinese;
Mr. Yu (m): The Loving Care Station project has received great support and encouragement from many of our customers. I am deeply touched!

ANCHOR: Mr. Yu Jiann-Chung, Director of the Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Center, also plans to share this idea so other municipal governments can increase their rates of animal adoption.

Mr. Yu Jiann-Chung (m): I think this is a very good project. On one hand, we are advocating animal adoption. On the other hand, our citizens will know more about respecting animal life. I would like to make an appeal to our audience and friends worldwide. If you have a dog, you must love him or her. We should love them as we love our children.

ANCHOR: After completing medical screening and receiving vaccinations, the animal friends stay in one of the shops awaiting their new families. All of the dogs and cats in the program have been adopted, with more than 100 finding homes every month. Mr. John Liao, manager of the Wonder Pet Hotel, feeds dogs in his care a veg diet.

Mr. John Liao (m): We have been feeding our dogs a veg diet for more than two years. We usually have around 20 dogs here, and they all love the veg food!
