Methane released from beneath Arctic Ocean.
British and German scientists have discovered more than 250 plumes of gas bubbles coming from the seabed off the island of West Spitsbergenin the Arctic Ocean.

As the gas being emitted is predominantly the potent greenhouse gas methane, the scientists say that it is likely originating from methane hydrate stores beneath the sea bed that are thawing due to a global warming-related rise in ocean temperatures.

If this process becomes widespread, the massive release of methane would usher in runaway global warming.
Thank you scientists for these candid observations, despite their disturbing implications.
We pray for an outcome of restored balance as we humans around the globe join hands and hearts to stop global warming and protect life on our planet.

Supreme Master Ching Hai frequently reminds of the link between climate-related calamities and livestock raising, as she explained during a live interview in September 2008 with Environmentally Sound Radio in New York, USA.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Methane gas and hydrogen sulfide result from animal raising, and that produces a lot of toxic gas into the air and it warms the atmosphere, and then the atmosphere melts the ice and the ocean will be warm, and then more methane and other toxins will be released from the bottom of the ocean’s  permafrost and all that. And then it will be like a devil’s circle.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: I hope we stop it quick.
Supreme Master Ching Hai: If we have enough people to be vegan,  then the world will be in a trend. And I do really pray that the government and the media help and it might save lives.

200,000 climate change refugees on the move each year.
With at least 26 million people already displaced because of global warming-related events, US-based charity
Oxfam International reports that 375 million may be at risk of having to flee due to climate change disasters
by 2015, with 200 million having to leave their homes annually due to hunger, environmental degradation or land loss by 2050.

According to a WorldPublicOpinion.org poll of 19 countries around the world, the majority of people in 15 countries want their governments to do more about climate change, including China, US and Russia.

Our gratefulness, Oxfam and World Public Opinion for these insights into the plight of brethren worldwide. Let us all strive to do our part through such effective eco-friendly practices as the plant-based diet so that everyone can live sustainably on our shared planetary globe.
