In animal welfare news, birds in a United Kingdom bay are safeguarded. Liverpool Bay off the west coast of England has been authorized as a Special Protection Area (SPA). An important feeding ground for the common scoter and red-throated diver, the region is one of 15 marine protected areas which have been identified around the nation. Its SPA status has been granted under a European directive on the conservation of wild birds. It will ensure the safety of wildlife for the benefit of present and future generations. Kudos, United Kingdom, for your praiseworthy efforts to preserve our precious feathered friends. May all exquisite avian messengers continue to enthrall us with their songs of joy and flights of grace for eons to come.
