New biofuel used for the first time

New bio-fuel from grass powers Ireland’s national grid for first time. JHM Crops supplied biomass made from perennial grass miscanthus to the Bordna Mona power station, where it was burned with peat to provide sustainable energy. Oil-rich Alberta launches climate plan

Canadian province lays out details of climate plans. Alberta, Canada produces 70% of the nation’s oil and has recently unveiled plans to reduce her emissions by 50%. The initiative will focus on carbon capture and storage, energy efficiency and conservation, and the environmentally friendly production of energy. 50,000 trees planted in federal wildlife refuge in Liberty

US Fish and Wildlife Service and corporations and nonprofit groups partner up to reforest wildlife refuge. Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, in Liberty, Texas, USA, received a US$250,000 donation from corporations and nonprofit organizations to plant 50,000 trees. Donations were made by Dell Inc, Travelocity, NBC Universal, and The Conservation Fund. Many thanks to all involved in your shared commitment to preserving wildlife and precious ecosystems. EU cities launch climate-change battle plan
