Dengue fever on the rise in the US.
In a recent report by US conservation group, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), two species of mosquitoes able to spread the virus have been found in 28 southern and mid-Atlantic states, with Arizona, Florida, Texas, New York and New Hampshire being among them.

According to NRDC senior scientist Dr. Kim Knowlton, global warming is the cause. She said, “Rising temperatures do affect the range of these two mosquito vectors, to the extent that warming winter temperatures can allow mosquitoes to overwinter more successfully and therefore be able to survive in new parts of the country.”

In the last decade, reported cases of Dengue fever in the US have doubled. Our appreciation, Dr. Knowlton and associates at the Natural Resources Defense Council for this report that further illustrates how human-induced global warming is changing all aspects of life on Earth.

Let us realize our roles as responsible stewards of the planet and act to recover the balance of our shared home. Ever-concerned for humanity’s welfare, Supreme Master Ching Hai addressed the consequences of global warming in a May 2009 videoconference in Togo, offering the quickest way to alleviate climate change.
These impacts of climate change increase food insecurity and the food crisis.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: There is also increased risk of diseases such as malaria because the mosquitoes spread to higher altitudes. If we become vegan as an individual, we can remedy the disasters that otherwise might affect us personally. If the world becomes vegan as a group, we can remedy the disasters that affect us globally.

The planet will begin repairing itself in astonishing ways that scientists would be surprised. For example, the ice will stop melting and return to the way it was, green life will appear again, the oceans will be healed as the rainfall and temperature begin to regulate themselves again, produce restored balance.
