Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Nepal.
At the end of July, different parts of Nepal and Bangladesh were hit by continuous torrential rainfall, which triggered floods and landslides.

In Nepal, many families were displaced, and there were 22 confirmed casualties along with others missing. On July 29, Supreme Master Ching Hai asked that our nearby Association members go to help, also expressing her love and sorrow for both Nepal and Bangladesh. She donated US$20,000 for persons in urgent need, especially those who had lost loved ones, elderly without family and the injured. This amount could purchase US$723,000 in relief items obtained in the United States, based on the region’s cost of living.

Our Association members from Nepal first delivered needed supplies to landslide victims in eastern Nepal’s Sankhuwasabha District.

Relief Recipient – Nepal (M): I was running and screaming out of fear. After that it swept away my neighborhood; what can I do?

VOICE: With the help of the district administration and police offices as well as the Red Cross of Sankhuwasabha District, our Association’s relief team distributed relief materials including food and financial aid to 200 afflicted people.

They also provided financial support via the Chief District Officer of Sankhuwasabha for one girl who had lost her family to a landslide.

Mahes Thapalia – District Vice President of Nepali Congress Party, Sankhuwasabh, Nepal (M): First of all, I would like to show my gratitude to Master Ching Hai from Nepali Congress as well as people from Sankhuwasabha.

Usha Karki, Community leader (F): I would like Master to hear that we district citizens would like to thank her for her support in the relief program.

VOICE: National television channels also covered the relief work, saying it was the first ever help provided from a more distant location. The Nepalese government’s District Administration Office of Sankhuwasabha also sent Supreme Master Ching Hai a letter of appreciation, stating:
“We the District Relief Committee want to thank The Supreme Master Ching Hai from the bottom of our heart… Such a blessing received from her side, coming in such a time when we are stricken by the suffering and pain, will be remembered.”
Rajendra Sigdel Acting Chief District Officer of Sankhuwasabha and President of District Disaster Relief Committee

VOICE: To the local officials and Red Cross of Sankhuwasabha District, we appreciate your assistance.
We are most grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai, whose compassionate support brings comfort to the distressed.

Wishing the Nepalese flood stricken a swift recovery as more and more people join in gentler lifestyles to ensure our planetary balance.
