Smoking during pregnancy linked to crime in children. A new study published in the “Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health” has compared the health records of nearly 4,000 expectant mothers in the USA with the later criminal records of their children. The researchers found that children whose mothers smoked 20 or more cigarettes a day during their pregnancy had a 31% higher risk of being involved in criminal offences than those whose mothers did not smoke. Additionally, according to the collaborative research team from US-based Harvard and Brown Universities, the children of heavy smokers were 47% more likely to be repeat offenders.

Many thanks Harvard University and Brown University scientists, for your work in revealing yet another adverse effect of this harmful substance. Let us all step together toward a smoke-free future so that we and all cherished loved ones may flourish in clean air and vibrant health.
