United States contributes $62 million to the World Food Program to provide food and supplies to refugees and displaced populations in 14 countries across Africa and Asia.

 6 Hearts – Dutch Minister of Justice Ernst Hirsch Ballin & Dutch Government
Dutch Minister of Justice Ernst Hirsch Ballin and the Dutch government granted amnesty to up to 30,000 refugees seeking asylum in the Netherlands prior to April 1, 2001.

Syria offers free medical services to two million Iraqi refugees to bring them greater relief, as well as free education to Iraqi children.

Billionaire Carlos Slim Helú of Mexico donates his resources to charity, starting with an initial US$500 million contribution.

Carnegie Corporation receives US$30 million donation to fund local social, arts and culture groups from anonymous donor believed to be Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

Emory University student Robbie Brown of U.S.A. donates the US$20,000 from his 2007 McMullen Award to fellow student Elizabeth Sholtys to fund an orphanage she set up in India.

Spain contributes over US$10 million to Mexico to help in the planning of infrastructure projects and to support mutual cooperation.

 6 Hearts – US First Lady Laura Bush
First Lady Laura Bush presents US$507 million as well as material aid in a visit to African countries to assist with education, nutrition and eliminating malaria.

World Bank donates US$20 million to Cambodia to provide electricity through construction of cross-border transmission lines to Vietnam and Laos.

France donates €15 million to Palestine and provides diplomatic support to help restore national harmony.

Taiwan strengthens relations with Dominican Republic, and donates US$1 million to assist in expansion of children’s hospital.

G8 summit leaders agree to clear 90% of Liberia’s debt.

United States provides US$4 million to the United Nations Development Program for Somalia, including US$1.25 million to support its national reconciliation conference.

Pakistan budgets US$31 billion for infrastructure development and improving the lives of its people, including a 5% increase in the income of government pensioners and increased pay for laborers.

Japan donated US$19.5 million to UNICEF to eliminate polio worldwide and improve child health programs in Nigeria, Afghanistan, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

81-year-old Bill Anderson bicycles 2,000-miles to raise money to help the homeless.
