Today we joyfully present to you a cultural journey through traditional and modern Oriental art, as we talk with distinguished Malaysian artist Mr. Tew Nai Tong.Born in 1932 in Malaysia, then the heart of the east-west shipping trade, Mr. Tew Nai Tong grew up emerged in its thriving fusion of cultures and artistic traditions.

Dreaming of becoming a painter since childhood, he began his studies at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1957, before later traveling to France, where he attended the prestigious Superior National School of Fine Arts in Paris, France in 1967. Both these esteemed schools of art helped to shape Mr. Tew Nai Tong’s unique style, developing an appealing combination of Oriental charm and Parisian elegance.Spanning 50 years, Mr. Tew Nai Tong’s work has been in exhibitions around the world, and has helped greatly in introducing Malaysian art to the international stage.

In 2007 the exhibition “Odyssey” was held at Singapore’s National Art Gallery, showcasing his half-century of artistic achievements. In 2009, in Seoul, South Korea, Mr. Tew Nai Tong was recognized with the prestigious Grand Prize Asia Art Award.
