Ninth graders Nguyễn Lâm Tuyền, Nguyễn Hoàng Du, and Trần Nguyễn Tường Vi from Lê Quý Đôn Secondary School in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) have won first place for their entry of the three-minute film, “Tobacco and Adults.”

(NFT: “Thuốc lá và người lớn”) The contest, themed “The Things We Need to Learn” was coordinated by the Embassy of Japan in Âu Lạc, in cooperation with the nation's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The three young filmmakers stated that they hoped the reality conveyed through their project would help raise awareness of the harmful effects of smoking, especially on children.

Their work was commended by the school principal Hồ Thị Tuyết Tơ, who said, “They've done a great job. I think it's a good way of telling people about the harmful effects of tobacco."

As winners of this contest, the three students will also be participating in December's Asian Children's Film Festival, held in Japan.

A big round of applause, Lâm Tuyền, Hoàng Du, and Tường Vi for your deserved top honors. May your noble endeavors together inspire fellow Aulacese citizens and the world toward the day when people everywhere live healthfully smoke-free.
