In health news, New Zealanders are quitting smoking to positively influence their youngsters. More than half of the over 1,300 participants surveyed by the University of Otago in Wellington stated that setting a good example for their children was one of their top reasons for giving up smoking. Dr. George Thompson, lead author of the study, remarked, “One of the other factors which might be making a difference is the increasing adoption by councils of smoke-free parks and playgrounds, partly because they want to reduce the example of smoking.”

Our thankfulness, Dr. George Thompson and fellow researchers, for highlighting the importance of being good role models for our beautiful children. May all people practice life-affirming ways for themselves, the next generation, and our precious planet.
