Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from South Korea.
Torrential rains in July resulted in a series of floods and landslides throughout South Korea, with 10 people who lost their lives overnight. Hundreds of homes were damaged by the mud and water. On July 18, Supreme Master Ching Hai donated US$10,000 for those who lost family members or needed urgent help, while conveying her heartfelt condolences and prayers.

This amount could purchase US$18,000 in items obtained in the United States, based on the cost of living in South Korea. Our Association’s relief teams went to Busan city and Gyeongsang province to carry out the relief work and comfort the bereaved. At Busan, they cleaned an apartment complex that was hit by a mudslide, and donated rice for the grateful affected families.

This amount could obtain US$142,000 in relief items if purchased in the United States, based on the cost of living in the Philippines. Our gratefulness, Philippine military and Red Cross personnel for your caring aid to the storm-afflicted.

We are also thankful for Supreme Master Ching Hai’s loving assistance extended to the vulnerable. As we sorrow for the victims of the storm, we pray for their quick return to productive day-to-day lives and that such disasters are eased as we unite in greater stewardship for the environment.
