On Wednesday, June 2, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s border guard reported that an agreement has been reached with Uzbekistan regarding a shared border around the area of Sokh, an ethnic Uzbek enclave on Kyrgyz land.
The two sides agreed that Uzbek troops would be withdrawn from Sokh and that Kyrgyz officials would no longer be posted at certain shared border crossings.
Further discussions are also planned, with the goal of a formal accord to achieve lasting harmony in the region. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, we respectfully laud your cooperative steps and accord.
Wishing the warm-hearted people of both your nations continued advancement toward a mutual goal of prevailing peace.
