Inaugurated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Monday, May 24, the Portuguese-language TV Brazil International will re-broadcast from Mozambique's capital Maputo to reach 49 African countries, including Portuguese-speaking African nations such as Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and Sao Tomé and Principe.
With programming that highlights news and culture, President Lula said that this international expansion represented a long-held dream to share Brazil in her true light.
The channel is also planned for soon availability to reach some 3 million Brazilians that live abroad in other Latin American countries as well as Canada, Europe, and the United States.
Your Excellency and Brazil, we laud your realized dream of a new international media channel. May the extended broadcasting of Brazil TV connect people throughout the world in abundant cultural enrichment and appreciation.
