Governments and media to lead the good cause.

As the world goes on busily engaged with daily living, its citizens rely heavily on their governments and media groups for accurate information. It is through their communications that opinions of nations and countless decisions large and small are made every moment. Supreme Master Ching Hai has often mentioned this influence and the need to apply it well in order to save the planet.

Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai
with Hamburg Center, Germany – July 18, 2008

Our Association member (F): Master, I know from conversations that people are familiar with the subject of global warming because everybody has something to say about it. (Yes.) Yet how it all fits together, the cause and effect seem not to be obvious. Question: is it really a matter of people lacking information or are there other factors that must be considered?

Supreme Master Ching Hai: It’s many things. Lack of information is one of it. Other thing is people’s habits are hard to wipe out. The thing is that they do not know anything about the bad retribution of animals’ killing. They do not know the benefit of saving lives and being compassionate to other beings other than just humans. They do not know even that meat eating or animal diet has anything to do with global warming.

The government and the media must help to report the constructive news of the world for the people to be educated, to be informed. Because it's their right to know also. They buy the newspaper. They pay tax. They elected the government in the trust that the government does the best for them, or, leading them into the better, best situations. And the people trust the media. That's why they buy newspapers every day to read. That's why they watch television every day to see what's going on. So, media should do their noble job, informing people what is good for them.

VOICE: We would like to thank Supreme Master Ching Hai, who has been the inspiration for introducing uplifting and constructive media to the world. We pray that global governments and media alike will continue the trend of responsibility for the best interest of the public.

Please tune in to Between Master and Disciples on Supreme Master Television at a later date for the broadcast of this videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, with multi-language subtitles.

Climate change expected to cost US$1 billion per year in Ohio, USA.

A recent report, partially funded by the US-based Environmental Defense Fund, has been released which outlines the projected cost of climate change in 12 different states. The study states that with reduced precipitation, water levels are decreasing in the state’s north-bordering Lake Erie, which will require considerable investments for harbor dredging and other infrastructure changes.  Jim Coleman, director of environmental advocacy group, Ohio’s Tomorrow, said, “Unless we take action to cut the pollution causing climate change, we risk losing thousands of shipping jobs and millions in business revenue in Ohio."

Our appreciation, Mr. Coleman, Environmental Defense Fund and all concerned parties, for sharing this assessment of the hazards posed by climate change. We pray all leaders act quickly to address this urgent issue of our time, for our survival and that of our children.
