Metro Vancouver's last glacier on its way out

Last glacier in Canadian British Columbia shrinking. According to geoscientist Dave Dunkley, the Coquitlam Glacier, which stores about eight billion liters of water that helps supply the urban region of Vancouver, has receded approximately 720 meters from the alpine valley floor. He predicts that this glacier, the only one remaining of 10 that existed 200 years ago, will also soon be gone.

The scientist said, “It’s a symbol of climate change. We really have to take stock and change our ways.” Dr. Dunkley, we appreciate this valued update on the urgent effects of global warming. Let us all choose wisely and adopt sustainable lifestyles that conserve and protect our precious resources.

In July 2008, at the Climate Change International Conference in West Hollywood, California, USA which brought together green Hollywood celebrities, notable speakers and climate experts, Supreme Master Ching Hai spoke via videoconference on the most effective way to solve the climate crisis and restore our Earth’s natural balance.

Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai “Climate Change International Conference” July 26, 2008 – West Hollywood, California, USA

Supreme Master Ching Hai : Vegetarian diet will stop the global warming immediately almost, 2 weeks until 2 years, that’s the maximum. Otherwise, if we all become vegetarian, or almost all of us become vegetarian, it takes maybe 2 months or 3 months to see the effect right away, like the ice will go back to where it was, the Earth will cool off again and our life will be much more in abundance, and war will stop, everybody would think completely differently, they would treat each other completely differently because the compassion in their heart will return to its pristine power again.

Dry Winter Weather Results In Highest Particulate Pollution Levels From Traffic

Dry winters contribute to higher pollution levels. German scientists analyzing air quality in four German cities over a four-year period have found that particulate matter of less than 10 nanometers, also known as PM10, is highest in dry winter conditions, when the atmospheric pollutant mix is also closer to the Earth. In their study, which is published in the International Journal of Environment and Pollution, they point out that elevated PM10 levels are linked to respiratory disorders as well as cancer.

The scientists’ findings also state that significant traffic controls would need to be implemented for a change in the pollutant concentrations. Our gratitude for this informative study, participating German scientists. With more Earth-conscious choices, may we quickly regain the health-giving air of our beautiful planet.

Puducherry gets its first bird sanctuary

Puducherry Lake declared a bird sanctuary. The 390-hectare Ousteri Lake, the largest in India’s Puducherry Territory, has been granted protected status by the government as a home to more than 40 migratory bird species, including the golden oriole and several species of storks. To enhance the bird-friendly atmosphere, motorboat use and fishing will be banned, along with no litter, loud horns or plastic. An interpretation center is being constructed with telescopes for bird observation. A green thank you, Puducherry Territory for your new sanctuary which will surely provide repose and enjoyment for human and avian visitors alike.
