Italian and French tenants’ rights allow animal companions. According to a national law in France, animal friends are permitted in a rental property even if a contract clause says otherwise. Only animals considered dangerous or incompatible with humans are not authorized. In Italy, according to the National Animal Protection Body ENTE, tenants cannot be forbidden to have dogs in condominiums, and only in very rare situations can the canines be asked to leave. No landlord, even with unanimous voting, can refuse a tenant for having an animal companion.

Our grateful appreciation, Italy and France, for your understanding regulations and expanded definition of family. May humans’ lives be ever graced with the unconditional love bestowed by our treasured animal friends.
